Brakes &
Suspension.
Control matters.

Changes in braking or handling deserve a careful look. Garrett’s Garage services brakes and suspension with attention to the parts, measurements, and symptoms that explain the concern.

Serving Hollywood and Southern Maryland. Every appointment is confirmed after review.

Stopping power.
Controlled movement.

The brakes slow the vehicle by converting motion into heat. Pads, rotors, calipers, hydraulic components, and controls all contribute to the result. Noise or vibration needs investigation before deciding which components to replace.

The suspension supports the vehicle and helps the tires stay in contact with the road. Shocks, struts, bushings, control arms, and related steering joints affect ride and handling. Brake and suspension concerns sometimes overlap, so the inspection should follow the symptoms rather than assume a single part is responsible.

What should you look for?

Describe whether the concern occurs while braking, turning, accelerating, or driving over bumps. Also note recent impacts, tire work, or other repairs.

01

Squealing, grinding, or vibration

Brake noise and pedal or steering-wheel vibration can accompany wear or other faults. Pad condition, rotor measurements, and hardware help guide the repair.

02

Pulling or a changed pedal feel

Pulling during braking, a soft pedal, or a sudden change in effort requires assessment. Tires, hydraulics, and brake components can all be involved.

03

Clunks, knocks, or loose handling

Noise over bumps or while turning may involve joints, bushings, mounts, or other components. Inspection is needed to locate the source.

04

Bouncing or uneven tire wear

Shocks, struts, tire condition, and alignment can affect stability and wear. Tire wear alone does not identify a failed suspension part.

A sudden loss of braking or steering control is urgent. Stop safely and arrange assistance if braking becomes unreliable, the pedal sinks, or handling changes severely. Do not drive to the shop simply to see whether the problem clears.

Connected systems.
Individual attention.

The inspection and parts selection follow the exact vehicle, axle, and equipment. Here are common areas that may be involved:

  • Pads, rotors, and hardwareReplacement decisions depend on condition and applicable measurements, not mileage alone.
  • Calipers and hydraulicsLeaks, sticking components, and brake-fluid concerns may require attention beyond pads and rotors.
  • Shocks and strutsDamping controls suspension movement. Mounts and related parts also need consideration when diagnosing noise.
  • Arms, bushings, and jointsWear or damage can affect wheel location and steering feel. The actual source should be confirmed before replacement.
  • Other makes and alignment needsOther makes are welcome for brake maintenance; contact us about suspension repairs. Any alignment needs or outside services are discussed as part of the plan.
  • Questions about your vehicle?Send the year, make, model, mileage, and requested work. We’ll review them before confirming an appointment.

Understand the concern.
Plan the work.

The appropriate work is based on inspection, measurements, and the complaint. Brake and suspension repairs are scoped to the affected system.

  1. Review and inspect

Understand the complaint and inspect the relevant brake, suspension, steering, and tire components. Reproduce symptoms only when safe.

  2. Measure and identify

Compare applicable wear measurements and component condition with specifications. Look for the cause of uneven wear or repeated problems.

  3. Perform the agreed repair

Install the correct components and hardware using the appropriate service procedures. Discuss hydraulic work or alignment requirements where relevant.

  4. Check the completed work

Verify the affected system and check for abnormal noise, leaks, or remaining symptoms. Review any follow-up or bedding guidance appropriate to the parts.

Factory repair procedures and specifications vary by vehicle. Garrett's Garage uses the applicable service information for the exact vehicle and configuration. See the American Honda Service Information System for Honda's factory-authorized service-information program.

Focused experience.
Personal attention.

Garrett combines hands-on Honda and Acura experience with a clear explanation of the work being recommended. The aim is a repair based on the condition of your vehicle, with OEM or OEM-equivalent parts appropriate to the job.

We use OEM or OEM-equivalent parts and take the vehicle's exact configuration into account. You can share previous diagnostic information, ask questions about the proposed work, and discuss the findings before moving forward.

The completed work and customer feedback below let you see that experience in practice.

A few common questions.

Does every brake noise mean I need new pads and rotors?

No. Noise can come from several conditions, and vibration needs its own assessment. Inspection and measurements help determine whether parts replacement or other work is appropriate.

Do you provide wheel alignments?

Please contact us to confirm arrangements. Some suspension repairs require an alignment afterward, but this page does not advertise an in-house alignment service. We will discuss that need before the work proceeds.

Can you pick up and return my vehicle?

Pickup and drop-off are each $150 within 30 miles of the shop, subject to availability and confirmation. Request the option when contacting us; it is not guaranteed. Let us know if your vehicle cannot be driven safely.

What should I send with my request?

Include the year, make, model, engine if known, mileage, VIN, symptoms, and any diagnostic codes or prior inspection results. Appointment requests are reviewed before a date and time are confirmed.
